Category Templates
In this article we will explain how Category templates work and allow sellers to easily sync their products from Shopify to TikTok Shop.
Using category templates simplifies the synchronisation process, saving time by eliminating the need to manually fill in product details for each item. Instead, you can select a pre-determined template and apply it to all relevant products at once.
What Are Category Templates?
Category templates allow sellers to create standardised templates for product information (e.g., material, style, or quantity per pack) and apply them to multiple products within the same category. This is a requirement for syncing products from Shopify to TikTok Shop. By linking products to a category template, you ensure that the same category appears both on TikTok Shop and your Shopify store for those products.Using category templates simplifies the synchronisation process, saving time by eliminating the need to manually fill in product details for each item. How To Set Up Category Templates?
- To create a new template, go to: Shopify > TikTok > Shop Management > Products > Category template > Add new template
- Next, you need to select a [Product category] for the template (this information is required to ensure buyers can easily discover your products when they are searching).
Brand | Enter the product brand which allows buyers to identify the product. |
Product attributes | Here you can provide additional details for a product such as the material, style or quantity per pack. This information can positively impact buyer conversion. |
Product shipping | Enter the weight of the products and the product sizing. This information can be used to calculate the shipping fee. We would recommend ensuring that the sizing and dimensions you entered are supported by the carrier. If there is a difference between the dimensions entered and the actual dimensions, you may be required to make up the difference. |
Certifications | You must add images that clearly indicate the CE Marking and manufacturer details on the product. |
Manufacturer | You must list the manufacturer of the product. |
Responsible person | The seller must add a Responsible Person (RP), which is normally a legal entity or person that is responsible for ensuring that products sold in the EU meet safety standards and comply with regulations. The RP will be the point of contact for product safety and compliance issues. |
Safety warning (Optional) | You can add any safety warning that is applicable to the product. |
- Press [Save] once you have completed all the information and the template is now ready for you to use.
- You can [Edit] the template at any time. However, the [Delete] option will only appear if the product quantity for this category is 0.
